First Classes

I felt exhausted now talking for an hour non-stop! This morning I had a class with DPA (Diploma of Public Administrations) students. I brought 35 handouts with the hope that at least 30 students will turn up but in the end there were only five. I continued the tutorial because it was a pity of those who attended. Later this afternoon again the same thing happened, only five turned up out of 25 students. At first there were only three but when I was about to dismiss the class another two students came in. So, I decided to continue and did the ice breaking session. The students in Malaysia are very different from those in the UK. Normally students in the UK the first day of class, the class will be very full. They really take things seriously even though they enter the degree course at a very young age around 17 and above. Actually, I was a bit disappointed by these Malaysian students because as an academics I am very excited to meet and teach them. I guess it just the attitude haven't change.

Happy teaching, i expect the same situation happen to us. Well, that's the reality we need to face. We prepared the syllbus for 13weeks instead 14weeks. So pack!Compare UK vs Msia is totally different.

Good luck ernie!
Congratulations on your first day! Also Happy New Year! =D
Happy New Year to you too! Hows your research going on?
Just waiting to conduct interviews at the moment. Have started writing the methodology part of the dissertation. But actually more than anything I am looking forward to going back home. =)

Hi ernie!

I didn't expect you to turn out to be a lecturer. It is obvious that the mentality of students in Malaysia differ from the UK. I guess, the seriousness will pick up in the following weeks. Hope that you're enjoying your job. Be one of the favourite teachers! I guess it's quite easy to relate to your students as the age gap is not big.

Re: Hi ernie!

Noreen!!! I miss you. One my students name Nathalie Joan from Sabah. She looks exactly like you! Every time I see her in my class remind me of you :)

Re: Hi ernie!

A lot of people has mentioned that they have a friend who looks like me. Am I that common looking?

Aiyo, I miss you too. This year I've stopped going to the gym cause no company and too lazy over the weekends.

It's good to hear that you've been coping well with your students. I still cannot imagine you as a lecturer.

Well, take care now.
mcnie, dah lambat tapi macam nak comment jugak.

ok, i'm surprised that UiTM students actually did not show up in classes at the start of the semester. When I was studying the classes are usually very full [you even have to find chairs from empty classrooms] to even sit in it. but that's the students in my campus [IPTS].It's dissapointing, really.
wah! UITM students manja. You can't be too nice to them nnt naik lemak. So guess what, i lock the door if they came in late.
